Today, our adventure begins with the drive through enchanting landscapes along the Mediterranean coast to Lycia. The coastal road surrounded by pine forests is accompanied by crystal clear and turquoise blue waters. Our first stop of the day is Demre, called Myra in ancient times: Saint Nicholas died here on 6 December 343. We visit the church of St. Nicholas, dedicated to him (admission included). Today, the church is a popular place of pilgrimage for Christians from all over the world. We make a short photo stop at the enchanting Kaputas Bay. In the late afternoon we reach the capital of the Lycians, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988 because of its unique, richly decorated tombs, pillar tombs and Xanthos (World Heritage) sarcophagi. We spend the night in star comfort in Fethiye, the former Telmessos.

Today we take a beautiful river cruise through the protected lagoon of Dalyan. We take traditional fishing boats and admire the impressive rock tombs of the Carian Empire. Once we arrive at the idyllic Iztuzu beach, we take a wonderful walk. The beach is the breeding ground of the Caretta Caretta turtle species, one of the last turtle species living in the Mediterranean. We spend the next 2 nights in a star hotel in the Kusadasi area.

Today, the next highlight of our journey awaits us: ancient Ephesus, which was also declared a World Heritage Site in July 2015. “The sun is new every day“, as the philosopher Heraclitus of Ephesus once said. Today we are touring his city (admission included). The magnificent Celsus Library, the shining Hadrian‘s Temple and the mighty amphitheatre are witnesses to a glorious era. The city is a missionary village of the Apostle Paul. The former port city was home to several peoples in its 4,000-year history, such as the Romans, Byzantines and Seljuks. Today it is considered one of the most impressive ancient cities in the world. We can assure you, you will be inspired!

At the beginning of the day we visit the remains of the legendary Temple of Artemis (admission included), known as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Once the largest temple in the ancient world, the ruins of the white marble structure are now one of the most significant attractions in the region. Afterwards we drive to Pamukkale. The drive takes us through the fertile meandering valley, which is surrounded by endless fig plantations, cotton fields and grape plantations. In the afternoon we take a photo break at the foot of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Pamukkale and marvel at the unique limestone terraces. We stay overnight in our modern and comfortable spa hotel in Pamukkale.

After a tasty breakfast we drive towards the Taurus Mountains past nomadic settlements to Tavas. On the way we learn interesting facts about the special life of the mountain people. In a traditional carpet weaving workshop at an altitude of 1,300 m, we experience the fascinating, centuries-old work of art. The variety, style and colourfulness of the hand-knotted carpets inspire us. We round off the day with a visit to the Karpuzkaldiran waterfall in Antalya. We will be staying overnight in star comfort in the Antalya area.
After a tasty breakfast we drive towards the Taurus Mountains past nomadic settlements to Tavas. On the way we learn interesting facts about the special life of the mountain people. In a traditional carpet weaving workshop at an altitude of 1,300 m, we experience the fascinating, centuries-old work of art. After an extensive city tour, we visit the old town. The country‘s great tradition of craftsmanship our leads us to a jewellery and leather studio. Besides information about the hand-made products, we also get the opportunity to buy a personal holiday souvenir. We will stay overnight in a star hotel in the Antalya region.

We spend the next 8 days relaxing on the Turkish Riviera in our 5-star luxury hotel with private beach! The comfortable rooms are luxurious and modern. We relax in the hotel‘s fantastic wellness area with sauna, take a break at the hotel‘s outdoor pool or indoor pool, or stroll along the beach. On the 15th day, we will be taken to the airport to fly back to the UK with many happy memories.
